Case study – Varennes
Boutique L'Attisé Had a very particular request for their customer in Varennes.
This customer had a raised fireplace that wasn't dry walled yet. Also, we had quite a challenge since we had to integrate heat vents pipes to the overmantel's structure. |

We started by determining the different measurements. We then designed the Provencial mantel, in 3 pieces, taking into account the custom depth. We also customised the shelf to integrate that depth and overmantel.
To finish the design step, we verified the fireplace's literature to make sure we respected regulations. We then went to the customer's house to measure the vent pipes and he was kind enough to lend us one of the cover grills so we could make sure everything was perfectly fitted. We noticed we had to modify our internal structure to accommodate the larger than anticipated pipes.
Design was over, production started and we got to the installation Challenge. Indeed, since the overmantel was going to go up to the ceiling, we had to adapt the process so the different parts would not scratch each other. Normally we let the law of gravity do its work; but that would have been harder and more dangerous for the mantel shelf. That's why we cut out a part of the shelf. We built the overmantel higher than necessary and installed it fist, resting on wooden supports. We then slid the 3 different parts of the Provencal mantel around it. After grouting the gap between the shelf and overmantel, the result was perfect.
All this might sound complicated; but it is our daily lot. Customization is our specialty.
Remember, do not suppose something is impossible, What might appear irrealistic for you might just be an interesting challenge for DRACME.
